28 Chapter XXVIII: A Conversation with Jesazel

The author recounts a profound exchange with Jezasel, one that clarified the true nature of telepathic communication, a mystery belonging to the angelic kingdom. This conversation arose when the author became aware that he was finally capable of receiving telepathic messages from the Master and from advanced Members of the Ashram.

Jezasel began by explaining that telepathy is the natural mode of communication among great beings, who do not require physical speech to express ideas. Telepathy operates only on the mental levels, beginning from the third subplane upward. As the disciple ascends toward the Soul on the fourth level—the causal plane—telepathic transmission becomes increasingly subtle, precise, and indispensable. A disciple integrated with the causal Self lives more inwardly, in the world of causes, than outwardly in the world of phenomena.

Telepathic conditions vary according to the disciple’s evolution. The devas take these differences into account when creating the telepathic pathway, a line of fire extending from the transmitter’s mind to the receiver’s. This path may be short or long depending on the intensity of the transmitting agent and the distance between minds. If the disciple has not developed sufficient mental control, the message dissolves into the ether before the devas can complete the pathway.

Jezasel emphasized that not everything depends on the angels. The human mind must first generate a powerful impulse of thought, which the devas then convert into a path of fiery movement through the ethers.

He then explained that the mental levels he referred to correspond to the various angelic hierarchies inhabiting those planes. Human thoughts emerge as electrical impulses through the etheric network of nadis, and the devas use these impulses to give form to the thought. But for a thought to become a vehicle of higher communication, the human thinker must possess great mental quality, enabling the devas to refine the thought into abstract mental substance, into ideas capable of reaching planes above the mental.

Perfect telepathic communication requires the thinker to make conscious contact with the higher mental levels. In such moments, thoughts are suspended by the will; the mind becomes “empty,” filled more with intention than with content. The thinker then selects, from the suspended thoughts, the one that best expresses his will toward the intended recipient. Only then can the devas easily create the fiery path of inspired Light that fuses the consciousness of a Master with that of a disciple.

This system of communication, Jezasel explained, is part of his function within the Ashram. For the devas, the Master is a center of inspiration and power, radiating vivid, radiant fire. It is easy for them to transmit His messages—not only to His disciples but also to the Masters of other Ashrams. They also carry to the Master telepathic messages from around the world: from disciples, from devoted aspirants, from other Ashrams, and even from the central heart of the Great Brotherhood illuminated by the life of the Lord Maitreya.

Keynotes

  • The Mental Levels of Telepathy: Jesazel explains that telepathy primarily operates starting from the third subplane of the mental plane. As a disciple integrates with their Causal Soul (fourth level), communication becomes increasingly subtle, technical, and internal, focusing on the "world of causes" rather than external phenomena.

  • The Human-Deva Partnership: Jesazel emphasizes that Angels cannot work alone. The human mind must provide the initial potent impulse of thought, which the Angels then convert into a "path" and "igneous movement" through the ethers. Without human mental control, messages dilute before the path can be established.

  • Nadis and Electrical Impulses: Thoughts manifest as electrical impulses through the etérico network of nadis. Angels utilize these impulses to give them convenient form. To reach planes beyond the mental, human thoughts must be of such quality that they can be converted into "abstract mental substance."

  • The "Empty Mind" Technique: Perfect telepathy requires the thinker to suspend all thoughts via spiritual will. In this "mental vacuum," the thinker "chooses" the specific ideas that best represent their intent. This allows Angels to easily create the igneous path of light that fuses the consciousness of the sender (e.g., a Master) with the receiver (a disciple).

  • Jesazel's Specific Function: One of Jesazel's primary duties in the Ashram is managing these communications. This includes transmitting the Master's radiant messages to disciples and other Ashrams, as well as delivering incoming messages to the Master from disciples and the center of the Great White Brotherhood (directed by Lord Maitreya).

Summary

Concept Jesazel's Technical Explanation
The Channel A line of fire created by Angels that varies in length and quality based on the transmitter's intensity and the receiver's receptivity.
Mental Vacuum A state where "there is more will than thought," allowing the Soul to consciously select thoughts for transmission.
The Master's Radiance Described as a center of "vivid and radiant fire" that makes transmission to and from Him exceptionally easy for the Devas.
Global Reception Angels monitor the planet to capture telepathic messages from devoted aspirants and deliver them to the Hierarchy.
