5 Chapter V: Report of a Third Initiation

In Chapter V, Vicente Beltrán-Anglada provides a rare, firsthand account of a major spiritual initiation within the Hierarchy, specifically the Third Initiation (Transfiguration) of a fellow Ashram member, Brother J., occurring during a Wesak Festival. The Master explains that this initiation will be conferred not by an ordinary Hierophant but by the Lord of the World Himself, the physical embodiment of the planetary Logos. Because the radiance of His aura is overwhelmingly fiery and potentially dangerous to those unprepared, the Master carefully selects which disciples may attend. Even then, they must stand at a safe distance from the initiatory Triangle. For days beforehand, the Master prescribes specific diets and a complete fast on the day of the full moon, so that the disciples’ physical bodies will offer no resistance when they leave them to attend the ceremony in subtler vehicles.

The author describes the initiatory venue as astonishingly luminous, filled with a warm, vibrant dynamism and a sense of fullness that permeates everything. He becomes acutely aware of the vibrations of his astral and mental bodies and recalls how the Master once explained that the discomfort he sometimes felt in the physical brain was simply the slow adjustment of the etheric and dense bodies to the powerful descent of energies from the causal and abstract mental levels. This adjustment, the Master notes, is a faint reflection of the overwhelming process that occurs during the fourth initiation, when the triple fire—electric, solar, and kundalini—destroys the causal body entirely.

As the disciples wait, the hall fills with members of the Hierarchy, each group arranging itself in precise geometric formation according to spiritual rank. A profound, dynamic peace settles over the assembly. The narrator feels a deep, warm emotion, knowing that the Hierophant will be the Lord of the World. He sees his Master accompanying Brother J., both wearing white robes adorned with golden emblems indicating their respective degrees. Brother J. already bears symbols of the third initiation, for initiation is never granted to one who has not already inwardly achieved it.

Nearby stand the three great planetary Regents—the Manu, the Bodhisattva, and the Mahachohan—conversing quietly. Further on are the Chohans, including Masters Morya and Kuthumi, who will act as sponsors and receive the fiery energy of the Flaming Diamond before it is applied to the candidate. The Master Serapis is surrounded by a host of radiant angels, instructing them in their role. Three brilliant points of light move rhythmically in a designated area, preparing the way for the Lord of the World; the narrator intuits that these are the Three Lords of the Flame, the three Buddhas who embody the aspects of Atma, Buddhi, and Manas.

When the moment arrives, the assembled Initiates form semicircles around the luminous center. A silence of indescribable depth descends. The Master brings Brother J. forward and presents him to the Bodhisattva, who receives him with a gentle smile and then introduces him to Masters Morya and Kuthumi. The Three Lords of the Flame form an equilateral triangle, turn Their faces to the East, and invoke the Great Lord. A celestial music, produced by angelic choirs, vibrates through the space, and a Light surpassing all other lights fills the hall. This is the Light of Sanat Kumara, projected into the Triangle of the Lords of the Flame.

From this center, the Lord of the World forms a second triangle with Masters Morya and Kuthumi and summons Brother J. to stand before Him. The narrator cannot perceive the inner workings of the ceremony, for a network of transcendent energy veils the central mystery, but he sees the interlaced triangles and the nine‑pointed star blazing at their center—the emblem of the nine initiations received by Sanat Kumara on Venus.

Suddenly, an intense indigo light floods his vision—the dynamic expression of the second Ray of Love‑Wisdom. He realizes this is the radiation of the Flaming Diamond, the Venusian gift wielded by the Lord of the World, now being applied to the causal body of Brother J., conferring upon him the full power of the third initiation.

At the end of the ceremony, the narrator sees the Lord of the World embrace Brother J. before withdrawing with the Lords of the Flame into the subtle spaces. The remaining Masters and planetary Regents approach the newly initiated disciple, blessing him and encouraging him to continue his service to the Brotherhood and to humanity.

As the great assembly gradually dissolves, the Master returns to the group with Brother J., whose aura now shines with extraordinary brilliance. The disciples embrace him with deep affection, knowing that his initiation has powerfully stimulated the entire Ashram and that he will henceforth serve as a new instructor within their Hall of Knowledge.

Though the event occurred years earlier, the narrator confesses that its impact remains alive within him, burning like a sacred flame in the depths of his heart.

Keynotes

  • The Hierophant: Unlike minor initiations, the Third Initiation is presided over by Sanat Kumara (the Lord of the World). His aura is so intensely fiery that the author and other disciples were required to stay at a "prudent distance" to prevent damage to their astral and mental bodies.

  • Preparation: The author’s group underwent weeks of training, including a specific diet and a total fast on the day of the Wesak Festival (Full Moon of May), to ensure the physical body offered no resistance during the experience.

  • The Diamond Flaming Rod: The author witnessed the application of the Flaming Diamond (the Rod of Power) to Brother J’s causal body. This rod, an "indigo blue" light, transmits the Second Ray energy of Love-Wisdom and solar power.

  • Geometric Alignment: The Hierarchy arranged itself geometrically by spiritual rank. The ceremony centered around two interlocking triangles formed by the Lords of the Flame and the Chohanes Morya and Koot Humi, with Sanat Kumara at the center.

  • Destruction of the Causal Body: The Master explains that during the Fourth Initiation, the triple fire (Electric, Solar, and Kundalini) becomes so potent that it completely disintegrates the "causal body" (the soul's shell), liberating the Spirit. The Third Initiation is a preparatory stage for this dramatic event.

The Initiatory Presence

The ceremony included the highest planetary authorities:

  • The Three Lords: The Manu, the Bodhisattva (Maitreya), and the Mahachohan.

  • The Lords of the Flame: Three "Buddas" who represent the Atma, Buddhi, and Manas of Sanat Kumara.

  • The Nine-Pointed Star: This emblem of Sanat Kumara’s own nine initiations on the Venus scheme shone at the center of the ceremony.

Summary

Element Description
Physical Symptoms High-frequency mental vibrations often cause a sensation that the "physical brain is going to explode" as the etheric body adjusts to causal energy.
The Role of Chohanes Masters Morya and Koot Humi performed as "godfathers," receiving the raw energy of the Diamond Flaming Rod before it reached the candidate.
Spiritual Outcome Following the initiation, Brother J. returned with a "resplendent face" and a glowing aura, becoming a new Instructor in the Ashram's Hall of Knowledge.
Celestial Music The ceremony was accompanied by music modulated by Angels that "tore through the ethers," creating an atmosphere of dynamic peace.
