27 Chapter XXVII: Telepathic Receptivity
In Chapter XXVII, Vicente Beltrán-Anglada defines the technical and Deva mechanisms that allow for clear communication between a Master and a disciple, emphasizing that true telepathy is a function of the spiritual Will rather than simple emotion.
The author begins by clarifying that true telepathic receptivity only becomes possible when the path of fire between the concrete (intellectual) mind and the abstract mind has been cleared. Between these two stands a third factor—the spiritual Will, which acts as the point of equilibrium. When this balance is achieved, the lower mental substance falls silent, and the spiritual Thinker—the Soul on its own plane—can use the mind as a clear channel to project Its intention through the ethers.
Earlier chapters explained that angels or devas regulate telepathic activity. They are the fiery agents of the Thinker’s Will, transmitting instructions from the Soul to the incarnated personality evolving in the three worlds—physical, astral, and mental. The telepathic vehicle is made of the same subtle substance as the Antakarana, the bridge the Soul constructs with the help of the devas known as the “guardians of humanity.”
For a disciple receiving higher training in an Ashram, telepathic linkage arises from the Master’s Will and the disciple’s refined mental receptivity. The devas continue to serve as transmitters of the Master’s energy, but once the message is delivered, the magnetic link dissolves into the ethers. Only the Master and the disciple know the true content of the communication. The devas simply prepare the telepathic pathway—this is their sacred function. Like Initiates, they respect formulas and guard secrets, no matter how far across the universal Akasha those messages originate.
This does not mean that the devas are ignorant of the messages. The higher devas who integrate themselves into an Ashram—whether through Ray affinity or devotion to the Master—know the archetypal value of the messages, because they must unfold them as they emerge from the Master’s mind and integrate them into the disciple’s. Their mode of life remains a profound mystery to disciples until at least the second initiation. Their world is a crucible of creation, where the great alchemy of manifestation is forged.
To create in the ethers is the central mission of the devas. Telepathic communication is one of their most frequent activities, establishing spiritual links between disciples and their Ashrams. They use the ethers, energize them with fire, and choose the swiftest vibrational route to create bonds of love and friendship among human beings. Souls who love deeply are also united through the second Ray of Love, via the deva principle of feeling.
Everything in the universe is relationship—from the physical cells to the souls of human beings. What varies is the quality of the link and the degree of causal affinity between entities, whether through Ray resonance or karmic ties. The devas maintain these connections through the ethers, sustaining the subtle bridges between lives.
However, when we speak of telepathic communication, we refer to something far rarer than emotional rapport. Telepathy requires the creation of a subtle, radiant mental substance, distilled from the magnetic auras of higher devas. This substance stimulates the ethers and produces a “mysterious void” within them, allowing the message to pass with clarity and speed. This is not to be confused with the emotional communication that arises from affection, family bonds, or deep earthly love. In those cases, the mind does not intervene; it is the heart that speaks.
In the Ashrams, the study of the “mystery of communication” reveals the devas as the true integrators of telepathic links. They are the Lords of the Mind, creators of the fiery impulse and transmitters of the Will—the power that the disciple develops and that binds him forever to the heart of the Master.
Keynotes
The Path of Fire: Telepathic receptivity is only possible when the "fire path" between the concrete (intellectual) and abstract mind is clear (p. 1). This requires a state of "mental vacuum" where the Soul projects its intent through the Spiritual Will (p. 1).
Angels as Telepathic Agents: Devas are the "igneous agents" of the Thinker's Will (p. 1). They function as the architects who build and maintain the telepathic bridges in the ethers, using their own radiant auras to create a "mysterious vacuum" that allows for rapid transmission (p. 1).
Discretion of the Link: While Angels facilitate the connection, the magnetic link is dissolved once the message is delivered, ensuring that only the Master and disciple know the specific quality of the communication (p. 1).
Telepathy vs. Sentiment: The author distinguishes true telepathy—which is mental and igneous—from the "sentimental communication" shared by people who love each other (p. 1). While the latter is valuable, it does not involve the higher mind or the technical intervention of higher Devas (p. 1).
Summary
| Element | Esoteric Role |
|---|---|
| Spiritual Will | The "balancing factor" that clears the mind of inferior substance for communication (p. 1). |
| Higher Devas | Known as "Lords of the Mind," they break down the Master's thoughts and integrate them into the disciple's mind (pp. 1-2). |
| The Antakarana | The vehicle through which telepathic messages travel, aided by the "Guardians of Humanity" (p. 1). |
| Second Ray Love | The principle that unites souls through "Deva feeling," establishing deep bonds of friendship and affection (p. 1). |
The Mystery of Communication
The author notes that understanding the Deva world is a "wonderful crucible" of alchemy, typically reserved for those who have reached the Second Hierarchical Initiation (p. 1). For the disciple, the Angels remain the vital integrators who link their individual consciousness perpetually with the "heart of the Master" (p. 2).
