40 Chapter XL: The Racial Past

In Chapter XL, Vicente Beltrán-Anglada explains that a disciple's spiritual training involves a conscious immersion into the Earth’s evolutionary history to understand the psychological roots of modern humanity.

The author begins by explaining that the experience of the Racial Past encompasses three vast epochs of human evolution: the Lemurian, the Atlantean, and the Aryan up to the present fifth subrace of the fourth planetary Round. The first three hierarchical initiations are always preceded by a type of experience that unfolds in certain regions of space surrounding the Earth, where the events of ancient history are preserved in the astral light and in the cosmic memory of the Akasha. This Akashic memory—described as a kind of “mental memory”—contains the record of all races, species, and civilizations that have appeared on Earth during the Lemurian, Atlantean, and Aryan cycles.

There exists a subtle analogy between the physical plane and Lemurian consciousness, between the astral plane and Atlantean consciousness, and between the mental plane and Aryan consciousness. This analogy extends as well to the three lower kingdoms of Nature: mineral, vegetal, and animal. Thus, the two preparatory initiations that precede the first hierarchical initiation must necessarily relate to the two primordial races from which humanity emerged: the Hyperborean (etheric) and the Polar (semi‑etheric). Their evolution, too, is inscribed in the Akashic levels of cosmic memory.

Before receiving a higher initiation, disciples undergo a specific training that allows them—through a kind of collective psychometry—to penetrate the most remote planetary past. They learn to register consciously the slow unfolding of evolution across the ancient racial epochs. For the first initiation, the disciple must enter the memory zone of the Lemurian race, from its first to its seventh subrace. For the second initiation, he must penetrate the Atlantean memory and discern many of the historical events of that distant era. And for the third initiation, he must experience the Aryan cycle from its first subrace to the dawn of the present fifth subrace. This experience takes place in certain regions of the mental plane connected with the Akashic records—the permanent memories of the Planetary Logos.

Although these explanations may appear technical and abstract, they contain the breath of a lesser Mystery which, if followed with the mind, can lead to a greater Mystery. Through this greater Mystery, the aspirant’s consciousness becomes so invocative that it opens the way into an Ashram of the Great Brotherhood and eventually to the supreme contact with a Master of Compassion and Wisdom.

The details of this conscious immersion into the ancient planetary past—whether Lemurian, Atlantean, or Aryan—constitute a type of experience that the Initiate guards in the most hidden recesses of his being. When it is said that the Initiate is a great psychologist who understands the motivations behind human behavior, it refers to his knowledge of the consciousness developed by individuals of the Lemurian, Atlantean, or Aryan types, their psychological reactions, and their ways of facing life and events. With this noble equipment of consciousness, no one can deceive him. A strongly Lemurian individual will react as a Lemurian—instinctively—even if physically he appears to be a refined Aryan type. The same applies to Atlantean and Aryan individualities.

The author shares a striking example from recent history. During the fifty years of fratricidal rule in Pretoria, under the criminal system of Apartheid, many powerful Aryan individualities incarnated in black bodies—Lemurian vehicles—to carry out a silent work of the Great Brotherhood. Their mission was to liberate the last segregated members of the Lemurian race from the oppression imposed by a small Aryan minority. The Master once said that the “respectable Aryans,” intoxicated with power and responsible for the most degrading forms of slavery, would be severely punished by racial Karma. Those most directly responsible would be born again and again in black bodies until they had washed away, through suffering, the cruelty and agony they inflicted upon other children of God with different skin.

The author concludes by affirming that he would not dare speak of these matters without personal experience of such facts. He reminds the reader that the Secret Diary of a Disciple recounts historical and mystical events, not mere occult theories.

Keynotes

  • The Three Periods of Experience: To receive the first three Hierarchical Initiations, a disciple must use "collective psychometry" to access the Akashic Records (the planetary memory) and experience three major racial epochs:

    • 1st Initiation: Immersion into the Lemurian memories (Physical plane/Instinct).

    • 2nd Initiation: Immersion into the Atlantean memories (Astral plane/Emotion).

    • 3rd Initiation: Immersion into the Aryan memories (Mental plane/Intellect).

  • The Initiate as Psychologist: Through this training, an Initiate becomes a master of human motivation. They can discern a person's true "racial" consciousness (instinctual, emotional, or mental) regardless of their outward physical appearance.

  • The Karma of Apartheid: The author provides a modern example of racial karma, noting that many high-level Aryan souls have intentionally incarnated into Black (Lemurian) bodies in South Africa to dismantle the system of Apartheid from within.

  • Racial Justice: The Master warns that those responsible for racial oppression and slavery will be "harshly punished" by racial Karma, forced to reincarnate repeatedly in the very races they oppressed until their debt of suffering is paid.

Racial and Initiatic Analogies

Initiation Race Plane of Consciousness Focus
Preparatory Hyperborean/Polar Etheric/Semi-Etheric Earliest origins of the species.
First Lemurian Physical Sub-races 1 through 7.
Second Atlantean Astral Historical events and emotional evolution.
Third Aryan Mental Sub-races 1st through the current (5th).

Summary

  • Akashic Psychometry: Disciples are trained to "register" the slow pace of evolution through the planetary memory, which the author defines as the "Cosmic Memory of Nature."

  • The Goal of Revelation: These technical explanations are intended to stimulate the reader's intuition, potentially acting as a "minor mystery" that leads them toward their own encounter with a Master.

  • Historical Veracity: Beltrán-Anglada emphasizes that these are not mere occult theories but historical and mystical facts he has personally experienced.
